
About Malcolm Hamilton
Malcolm Hamilton was born at Oxford in the United Kingdom in 1960. His family later moved to Tavistock, Devon where he spent his teenage years. He attended Plymouth College where he studied Hotel Catering and Institutional Management, graduating in 1980.
Having worked in many, hotels, restaurants, pubs and private houses in the West Country, he began work at Gravetye Manor Hotel, in West Sussex.
Moving to France to enhance his knowledge of food and wine, he worked at L'Auberge des Templiers in the Loire valley and Pralong 2000 at Courchevel, in the Haut Savoie. Returning to England, he continued his career in catering as the restaurant manager of Gravetye.
He left catering and joined Sussex Police where he served as a beat officer, crewing a response car and latterly on the Counter Terrorism Wing. He was retired from the Police Force in 1999 following an accident and began woodturning professionally.
He and Rebecca have two young daughters and together they live in Brittany. He also has three children from a previous marriage, who live in Wales.
